Old World Redux – Avenue Magazine

This heritage home is the personal residence for longtime clients Jared & Aja. We had the pleasure of mixing their young, urban style with the beautiful old world details of this home. A new custom kitchen was first on the list as this couple likes to entertain and cook especially given they own a few restaurants. We created a light and bright kitchen using off white cabinets mixed with a dark wire brushed oak island and pantry. Quartz countertops and subway tile help to add that timeless touch. We kept most of the original wood details on the main floor, which included paneled walls, a coffered ceiling and built ins. We carefully cleaned them up and gave them new life to compliment the light walls and stunning Restoration Hardware furniture pieces. One of the interesting parts of this renovation was the painful removal of the many layers of wallpaper, especially the layer of Anaglyptic paper. Wish we had saved a small piece to frame to remind our clients of the age of this beautiful home.
